If another vehicle was involved, exchange as many details as possible. If your car cannot be driven, call the police on 000 to report the accident – they can also arrange a tow truck. If your car is still drivable, phone us on 8552 4833 to book a date and time for a quote so we can dedicate a time just for you. We can also help you with lodging your claim and getting the repair process under way.
Do I have the right to choose my own repairer?
Most insurance companies offer freedom of choice, however there are some companies who will want to direct you to a cheap repairer. Remember you own the car; it should be your choice.
Do I need to contact several crash shops for estimates?
No. It is your right to choose your own repairer. We would recommend using a reputable long-standing repairer who is a guaranteed to repair your car’s safety to manufacturers standards.
What should I look for to find a reputable repairer?
6 things you should look for in a reputable repairer are:
Access to state-of-the-art equipment, such as a Car-O-Liner with electronic measuring, and inverter spot welder for manufacturer compliant repairs.
Up-to-date and ongoing industry training
Recommended by leading insurers and car dealerships
Unfortunately no. There are too many variables when it comes to fixing cars and we really must see the vehicle and the full extent of the damage before we can commit to a price or time frame. Please phone our office on 8552 4833 to make an appointment for a quotation.
How long will my car be off the road to have the repairs done?
There are many variables here, but if your vehicle has already been estimated and authorised, small repairs like bumper bars can be 2-3 days (depending on whether are new parts available or existing parts need to be reconditioned). Minor repairs might take 5 days and major front or rear damage could be 2-3 weeks. If your vehicle has been towed in and has suspension damage or a chassis that needs to be repaired, it could take 4-8 weeks including waiting for your insurance company to authorise the repairs, and waiting for parts to arrive.
The accident was not my fault. If I claim on my insurance will I have to pay my excess?
You are much better off putting the claim through your own insurance company to avoid all of the delays associated with a third party insurance claim. If you have all of the details of the third party involved, there is no reason why an excess should apply. Talk to us about your entitlement to a free hire car.
If my vehicles chassis is damaged can my vehicle be repaired?
Sure, as long as it’s economical. Our highly skilled technicians, with the aid of our state-of-the-art Car-O-Liner computer measuring system, can return your vehicle to its original factory specifications.
You’re an agent for O’Brien glass, how long does it take to fit a windscreen?
For most windscreens we allow up to 3 hours. We have a very strong focus on your safety and because of this we won’t let you drive a vehicle fitted using windscreen urethane until the safe drive time is completed. However if your windscreen is rubber bound it may be ready to go in an hour and a half.
When is a vehicle considered a total loss?
A car is a total loss only when the price of repairs exceeds approx. 75% to 85% of the insurance company’s determined value of your vehicle.
